They are too small to justify full-time IT staff, and too small to be interesting to the firms that serve enterprises. So the network closet becomes somebody’s side responsibility, and the Wi-Fi goes down before the board meeting.
The alternatives are not much better. National marketplaces optimize for volume and treat the technician as interchangeable. Consumer gig platforms are built for home users and compete on price. Neither is a fit for a nonprofit that needs the same person to understand its setup twice in a row.
Manually approved, not automatically listed.
The word that matters is manually. Anyone can build a directory. We check professional experience and references before a tech takes work, and we read every incoming request personally during launch rather than routing it by keyword.
That is slower than an algorithm and it is the point. It is also why we are starting in one region with a limited founding cohort instead of launching everywhere at once.
